Emily Drew

“I was born with a crayon in my hand. I have always loved to create and now I am so blessed to share my creations with others. My work is informed by this journey we call life, the trials and the blessings, and intends to offer truth and beauty.”

Emily Drew Mash is a prolific artist, teacher and mother of three. She received her BFA from Wake Forest University with a concentration in printmaking. Her work is part of the permanent collection of Wake Forest University. She was an exhibiting member of Artworks Gallery in WS, NC for several years before starting a family.

Today Emily Drew paints and designs in her home studio. She specializes in watercolors and turns her paintings into surface pattern designs. She is the pattern designer for Tiny Roots, a fair trade certified company that specializes in bamboo children’s clothing and nursery items. You can find her work here OurTinyRoots

She also teaches watercolor workshops at Sawtooth School for Visual Art, and with Healing through the Arts, a non-profit that provides creative opportunities for current cancer patients and their caregivers. As a cancer survivor, she always finds time to love on others who are battling.

In 2009 I was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. During that time, spending time creating in the studio was therapy for me. I could express my thoughts and feelings in images much easier than with words. Once I was in remission I knew my life’s calling was to speak with pictures. My work comes from a place of hope and goodness. I choose to portray images that offer a spark of hope, joy, peace, or simply beauty to others.
